A focused walk of cart totals, tax, shipping, gift cards, and the capture that actually leaves the payment provider — including failed and retry attempts.
When the question is not the whole shop but whether checkout can be trusted, we examine that path alone. Typical coverage includes how the cart total is formed, how shipping and tax attach, what happens when a coupon is added late, and whether the amount authorised matches the amount later captured.
We replay failed payments, abandoned sessions that later complete, and refunds that reverse only part of a capture. Evidence comes from the storefront, the payment dashboard, and the order record — not from a sandbox script the vendor prepared.
This work is often commissioned after a chargeback cluster, a gateway change, or a festive campaign that produced unexplained shortfalls. It can stand alone or feed the live storefront audit.
